Elgin 6S 7J lever set (LS) hunting case movement (HCM) grade 95 ladies' pocket watch #2942237, handsome gilt split plate movement with an engraved balance bridge, matte finish and a fancy plate layout, porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds register has a few faint hairlines and a bit of discoloration around the edge of the seconds register, bold black steel whip-style hands, modified yellow gold filled (YGF) hinge back & bezel (HB&B) box-hinge case has been converted from a hunting case (HC) by the expert removal of part of the front cover so as to view the dial as if in an open faced case, floral engraving on the back around a large fancy monogram shield with a small house engraving, coin edge engraving on the bezels and frame, deep geometric engraving on the heavy box-hinge accents at 12 and 6 o'clock and an extra thick glass crystal, case is showing normal even wear overall with notable smoothing to the engraving on the back, some small nicks along the frame and on the crystal, crystal can be replaced with a new plastic crystal at no charge on request, measures approx. 42mm in diameter x 62mm in length x 13mm thick (crystal included). A handsome, unique vintage watch from the late 1880s in excellent overall condition!
