Vintage Whiting & Davis gold-colored mesh art deco design clutch bag, small thin square yellow base metal (YBM) panels measuring approx. 2x2mm each have been connected together to form a sinuous metal mesh which creates the large, slightly flared clutch purse pocket, finished at the top with a high quality smooth polish YBM frame with a geometric design and ball-toggle clasp, sturdy top connector loops connect to the 11" YBM oval-link arm chain, interior is finished with a peach-colored fabric, possibly taffeta, with an internal side pocket, the interior of the bag has a white tag marked in blue stitched to the peach-toned lining that reads "Mesh Whiting & Davis Co. Bags - Trade Mark Res. - Made in U.S.A.", overall the clutch is in excellent condition, however many of the YBM panels and toggle clasp are showing some brass and the satin interior is loose from the frame on one side, the fabric is not showing damage and it appears that it could be re-stitched to the frame, measures approx. 170mm wide x 143mm tall x 9mm thick. While the gold mesh and arm chain are displaying signs of wear consistent with yellow gold filled (YGF) material, there are no markings on these elements and as such we are selling this item as base metal. Currently in very good overall condition, with a little care, this could be a stunning vintage accessory from the mid-1900s!
