Hamilton 16S 17J adj. grade 974 pocket watch #896473, handsome nickel split plate movement with screw-down jewel settings and a fancy concentric circle damascene pattern, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with bold fancy Arabic numbers, red Arabic 5 minute markers and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has a small expert repair on the edge of the dial near the 10 but no other hairlines or defects, blue steel spade style hands, re-cased into a heavy yellow gold filled (YGF) hinge back & bezel (HB&B) case with engine turning under the large fancy blank monogram shield and floral accents at 12 & 6 o'clock, vermicelli engraving on the bezels, coin edge ring around the crystal aperture and a fancy French-style bow, case is showing normal moderate wear with some notable smoothing to the engraving on the back and some small spots of brass starting on the frame, bezels, pendant & bow, additionally there is a small machined circle down to the brass on the inside of the dust cover, likely from a crude gold testing, measures approx. 50mm in diameter x 69mm in length x 16mm thick (crystal included). An attractive vintage mechanical movement Hamilton from the early 1900s in excellent overall condition!
