Waltham 16S 23J lever set (LS) adj. 6p Vanguard pocket watch #28880444, impressive nickel bridge movement with raised gold jewel settings (some screw-down), a gold center wheel, diamond balance endcap and an elaborate mixed checkerboard & fancy concentric circle damascene pattern, this model has the time set lever at 11 o'clock, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with bold Arabic boxcar style numbers, a black imitation double sunk line and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register is marked "Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewels", dial has a faint hairline between the center post and seconds register, bold blue steel spade & whip style hands.
Re-cased into a handsome yellow gold filled (YGF) screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with engine turning surrounding a fancy blank monogram shield with floral designs in the center, coin edge bezels, smooth polish frame with a short heavy pendant, recessed crown, a heavy rectangular bow and a thick glass crystal, case is showing normal wear with some light smoothing on the engine turning along the bezel, a thin line of brass starting on the frame and some heavy wear with notable brass on the bow, measures approx. 51mm in diameter x 65mm in length x 13mm thick (crystal included). A high quality workhorse railroad grade Waltham from the 1930s in excellent overall condition!
