Illinois 18S 11J lever set (LS) transition Railroader grade 4 pocket watch #705095, gilt full plate movement with a brushed finish, a steel Chalmers regulator, a steel foot around the key wind post which can be used if desired instead of the pendant to wind the watch and a delicately engraved balance bridge, movement is also engraved with a detailed steam locomotive, unusual single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel Canadian-style dial has a unique display of Roman numerals 1-12 with small black Arabic numbers 13-24 set within the numerals, black minute markers and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has a few faint hairlines and a faint ring of discoloration in the seconds bit from the hand brushing against the dial over time, blue steel spade style hands.
Heavy yellow gold filled (YGF) box-hinge hunting case (HC) with smooth polish center areas surrounded by detailed vermicelli engraving, elaborate coin edge frame, geometric engraving on the box-hinge details and a heavy bow, case is showing normal moderate wear with some brass starting to show on both covers and the box-hinge details, two spots of wear-through on the lower box-hinge detail along with some smoothing to the engraving, additionally the back cover closes flush to the frame however it has a weak latch and can be easily be opened with just hand force, measures approx. 55mm in diameter x 80mm in length x 18mm thick. A handsome, high grade Illinois from the 1880s with some desirable cosmetic aspects despite its cosmetic condition, running strong and ready to restore or carry daily in very good overall condition!
