Description:
Longines 17J grade 8LN wrist watch #7502723, case #T035621, vintage mechanical manual-wind nickel split plate movement with bold red ruby jewels, champagne-toned metal dial with a matte finish, raised gold Arabic numbers, a black outer minute marker register and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register is showing patina across most of the surface along with a few small spots of darker discoloration, gold steel whip style hands.
Distinctive extra long yellow gold filled (YGF) rectangular curved case with a stepped bezel with peaked sides, heavily curved extended lugs, a lightly domed glass crystal set flush with the bezel and an inscription on the back "J.A.F. to E.U.F 4-30-38", case is showing normal light wear with some small spots of brass just starting on the tips of the lugs, additionally there are thin gaps between the case frame & back cover, the cover still seats securely to the frame however our educated guess is that at some point the back cover was bent out of alignment slightly so that it now no longer is flush, measures approx. 22mm wide x 48mm lug to lug x 10mm thick (crystal included), matching YGF bracelet-style band with open D-shaped segments with center engraving comprising the entire length of the band and finished with a long, engraved clasp with an interior expansion system, band links and buckle are showing brass however no notable scratches or damage, overall wearable length of the watch is approx. 180mm to 200mm.
This watch also comes with a Longines red leatherette box finished with gold designs and a cream colored satin and velvet interior with a fixed watch display ring and a red leather covered Longines guarantee and instructions booklet. An impressive Longines in a desirable case from the 1940s, attractive even with the current cosmetic issues, in very good overall condition!
