Hamilton (Swiss) 17J grade 688 wrist watch, case #P986743, vintage mechanical manual-wind movement, champagne-toned metal dial with a sunburst finish across the center and tightly engraved concentric circle engraving around the edge, alternating printed black Arabic numbers and raised silver markers with luminous ball markers and black-marked minute markers around the edge over the engraving, dial has a few light scuffs and small spots of discoloration, silver steel fancy wedge shaped hands with luminous inserts and a silver sweep second hand, none of the luminous elements are retaining or emitting light as expected.
Thin-model stainless steel (SS) round water-resistant case with a narrow bezel supporting a flat-topped plastic crystal, a Hamilton marked crown and slender faceted extended lugs, this model of case accessed the movement by removing the crystal which makes for a highly water resistant design, case is showing normal even wear with some light scuffing and a small spot of discoloration on the bezel, additionally there are a number of short but deep scratches on the back cover from improper opening attempts, measures approx. 33mm in diameter x 39mm lug to lug x 8mm thick (crystal included), padded black leather strap band with a center recessed stitching accent and rounded designs near each set of lugs. This watch also comes with a black leatherette Hamilton box with a white satin and black velvet interior with a fitted removable wrist watch display, this is a modern Hamilton box and likely not original to the watch. A very attractive Hamilton watch from the 1970s in excellent overall condition!
