Elgin 18S 17J grade 336 pocket watch #16598983, attractive nickel full plate movement with screw-down jewel settings and an elaborate concentric circle damascene pattern, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals, a black-marked outer minute register and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has some faint hairlines, gold steel spade & whip style hands, re-cased into a unique white base metal (WBM) swing out (SRC) smooth polish case with a coin edge front bezel, oversized heavy bow, thick glass crystal and expertly tooled and secured brass pegs in the shape of handles which form the design of a ship's wheel, case is showing light normal wear with a few spots of discoloration near the pendant, measures approx. 58mm in diameter (case frame)/80mm in diameter (peg to peg) x 96mm in length (bow to peg) x 20mm thick (crystal included); it should be noted that while all the pegs are fairly secure to the frame it may be difficult to carry this watch in anything but a very loose pocket without risking the pegs bending, snagging, etc.. A unique, high quality vintage Elgin from the early 1900s, perfect as a display watch or for occasional use, in excellent+ overall condition!
