Waltham 18S 11J key wind P.S. Bartlett pocket watch #615863, handsome gilt full plate movement with a brushed finish, screw-down jewel settings and an elaborately engraved balance bridge, porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals and a black-marked seconds register (not subsidiary) is marked "American Watch Co.", starting in 1859 American was one of the early names for the eventual Waltham Watch Co., dial does have some faint hairlines, blue steel spade style hands, re-cased into a heavy white base metal (WBM) smooth polish hinge back & bezel (HB&B) transitional case with the detailed engraving of a spread-winged eagle perched upon a stars & stripes shield on the back, an extra large heavy bow and an extra thick glass crystal, case does have a crown but as this is a key-wind only movement it does not engage, case is showing normal light wear with some small patches of moderate scuffing on the back & pendant, a few scratches on the interior case surfaces from rough case opening attempts and a number of small scratches on the crystal, we can replace the crystal with a new plastic one at no charge on request, measures approx. 57mm in diameter x 83mm in length x 21mm thick (crystal included). An early, high quality vintage Waltham from the 1870s in excellent overall condition!
